However, the fundamental facts, the actors in the process that gave rise to massacres and deportations, are real, and their perverse policies caused one of the greatest crimes committed against humanity. Despite this, Turkey still does not recognize the genocide and does not understand that such a step would mean a national catharsis, which would help in its transformation into a modern European nation.
